What are Page Views? Definition or Meaning

Posted by Bizversity

Page views are a measure of how many times your web page has been opened. To test the effectiveness of your campaign, you measure this figure to determine the response you had. Keeping in mind that a page view or ‘hit’ doesn’t necessarily mean you have made a sale, nor does it mean those page views were by unique visitors, but it could help you refine your marketing campaigns.

For example…

Let’s say Katie created a new email campaign which advertised 50% of selected products from her boutique clothes shop. Her analytics software reveals she had over five thousand page views on the link in her email. Now, Katie only sent this email to the three thousand customers in her CRM. So, the five thousand page views could include several page visits by the same customer. It could also mean that customers forwarded on the email to their friends, potentially expanding her campaign’s reach.
