What is a Brand? Definition or Meaning

Posted by Bizversity

To brand something is to put your own unique mark on it. It distinguishes your brand through a symbol, design, name, tagline or different combinations of these. It will let consumers know that that the product or service originated from your company’s own efforts and is not related to other products without this mark.

For example…

Let’s indulge our childhood selves for a minute and consider the Walt Disney company. Many of us have watched Mickey Mouse cartoons. The Mickey symbol: two ears and a face is one of Disney’s brand identifiers and so are the names “Walt Disney” or just “Disney”. Several other interests of the company such as TV channels like “Disney Junior”, destinations like Disneyland or specialised product lines of the company such as Disney Baby all have their own name for it. However, their names all still uniquely identify it as belonging to the Walt Disney company.
