What is a Wholesaler? Definition or Meaning

Posted by Bizversity

A wholesaler is a company that buys items from manufacturers and suppliers in big quantities and usually at a wholesale price and then resells them to retailers at a higher price, thus making a profit in the process.

For example…

At Tim’s corner shop, he sells a variety of drinks from Coke and Fanta to Ice Tea and milk. He usually gets his supply of drinks from a drinks wholesaler who buys this variety of drinks direct from the manufacturer in huge quantities. Tim buys a moderate quantity of these drinks at a slightly higher price than the wholesale price and will, in turn, resell it to his customers at an even higher price, thus making a profit.
