What is an Accredited Investor? Definition or Meaning

Posted by Bizversity

Oh boy, if you come across someone who’s an accredited investor, count your lucky stars! This is because accredited investors are people, banks, trusts or other organisations with huge disposable incomes, not normally in need of protection from regulatory disclosure filings and may be interested in investing in your company.

For example…

In Australia, a qualified accountant can certify an individual to be an accredited or ‘sophisticated’ investor if they meet the income test of $250,000 per annum or own assets jointly worth over $2.5 million. Each country may have their own acceptance criteria for meeting the accredited investor test.
