What is Machine Learning? Definition or Meaning

Posted by Bizversity

Machine learning takes AI software a step further as it enables intelligent learning to occur within the component based on previous work it did or extrapolations made from data. The software performs sophisticated decision making processes as it goes along and ‘learns’ from previous activities.

For example…

Facebook’s news feed demonstrates machine learning as it changes what it displays based on the user’s activity. If a user ‘likes’ a particular friend’s post, the algorithm behind the news feed will consider this and alter what it shows the user which in this case would be more posts from that friend. Behind the scenes, sophisticated data mining and predictive analysis enable the machine learning to occur.
