What is Responsive Design? Definition or Meaning

Posted by Bizversity

Technology can be as diverse as it can be annoying! Just because a website looks great on a Mac doesn’t mean it will adapt to the smaller screen sizes of a Samsung tablet or a Windows phone. To avoid such problems, you need to design what’s known as responsive websites. Such sites consider browser, OS and screen size differences amongst other factors in providing a consistent experience across devices.

For example…

Take the website of Joshua’s furniture shop. During market research stage, he found that many people “window-shop” online first and then come in store. What’s more, he learnt that customers would call up specific pieces of furniture on their mobile’s browser when talking to the sales person at the store. To cater to these types of user cases, Joshua ensured his web development team created a responsive site. Now, customers using desktop computers, tablets and mobile phones will have the same web browsing experiences, contributing to higher customer satisfaction.
